Art Print - George Fok's Artist Proof
How do you begin to retrace a career as monumental as Leonard’s? This was the question facing artist George Fok when he was asked to contribute to the MAC’s exhibition Leonard Cohen: Une brèche en toute chose/A Crack in Everything. Fok found the solution: let archival footage from three distinct periods of the musician’s life play simultaneously on a huge 360-degree screen. His installation, “Passing Through,” pays tribute to Cohen’s inimitable music, persona and stage presence by juxtaposing video clips from his time as a bohemian folk singer in the 1960s, socially conscious voice in the 1980s, and elder statesman of rock in the 2000s. “It’s a tribute to his monumental career and is intended for fans and visitors to discover, celebrate, rejoice and reminisce about the Cohen that we know,” says Fok. “But beneath the surface, the installation is an attempted biographical depiction of Cohen’s spiritual journey, told through the different window of life stages in his career, in a non-linear time travel manner.”
About his limited edition artist proof, George explains: “Originally intended as a long durational immersive installation, these images were carefully chosen from my work. They represent the timeless quality of Leonard Cohen's artistry and his memorable stage personas, which were continuously adored by generations of attentive audiences.”
Each of George Fok’s artist proofs will be hand numbered and hand signed and limited to a printing of 100 only. This stunning and unique fine art lithograph arrives ready for framing.
